Moved

Yeah, we moved over to WordPress. Blogger has served us well, but WordPress is going to be more functional I’ve used it before, and I really like it. Please update your bookmarks (if you had any) to point to the new blog.

New Song!

Wrote a new song today! Kinda reminds me of "Midna's Desperation" from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but, oh well. I call it Twilight (go figure), and, uh, that's about it, I guess. :P Though I wanna spell Twilight "Twighlight" for some reason. Got no idea why. XD

It's MyBB

So, a few days ago, I was accepted into the MyBB 1.4 Beta Testing group. :D I've already downloaded it onto my computer, put it up on my local webserver, and started playing around with it some. I just have to remember what settings I used for the cookie settings. >_<

Along the line of MyBB, my Moderator Control Panel Mod has had over 600 downloads in the past 3 months. :D It's become my most popular mod, and already has a Turkish translation. And if you need a Mod CP for 1.2, you know where to look, ;)

So, that's about it. I'm almost ready to go to school today. I'd better finish getting ready for school.

Huh?

So, I downloaded an iso file of a distro of Linux for eyeOS to use. I start browsing through the files, and I noticed a .cfg file. So I double-click on the file, thinking it'll open in Smultron. It doesn't. Instead, it opens a game called Battle for Wesnoth. I was freaked.

As far as I knew, I had not installed Battle for Wesnoth on my computer. At first, I was thinking to myself, "Is Wesnoth a virus?", or "Did I unintentionally download it from somewhere", cause I did give the pop-up, saying that this was the first time I had opened the app, and that I had downloaded it from the internet, yada, yada, yada. I did a Spotlight search, and nothing came up, even when I told it to search the system files.

Then I remembered that my little brother plays Wesnoth, so I thought, "Okay, maybe he installed it, cause the Windows box does have spyware, and eMac is running pretty slow." But then I disregarded it.

So, I double-clicked on the .cfg file to open it again, because of the "Show in Finder" menu item on the dock menu of applications. Turns out, it was using the Battle for Wesnoth game from the eMac, which I had connected to to try to get files which I thought were there, but really weren't. So, when I tried to open a file that really had no default application set, it went over to the eMac, and launched Wesnoth on my computer, cause .cfg was a file format that Wesnoth was programmed to recognize.

So, just a word of caution out to you guys. If you find that you're trying to open a file, and it doesn't open as expected, check to see if you're connected to shared Macs. Your Mac could be launching an application from another machine on your Mac.

I have too many projects...

As if doing one operating system wasn't enough (eyeMac), I've decided to write my own to try to rival eyeOS. So, I have this OS, the eyeMac OS, Brickfilmers.com, Star Trek: Orion, eyeCoder, eyeManage, that Seminar script, and The Brickfilmers' Guide Podcast. I so need to take some things off my plate.

I Apologize...

Okay, guys, I want to apologize for the hack. Yes, I did it, but I had inside help. There is currently no way that a regular user to go in and actually hack Brickfilms.com, as in SQL injection, or variable overwrites, as far as I know. The only reason I could hack it was with inside help, help that had access to the main news page. I'm not going to reveal who. If they want to come forward, they can, but I won't mention them.

The main reason we did this was because we were bored, I guess. This was not a tactic to try to drive people over to ILB, even though there was a link. My help suggested that. I guess another reason I did it was to show that there are a few security flaws with Brickfilms, because, as you saw, I was able to inject an external javascript into the page, and rewrite the page.

I want to throughly apologize for this. I also want you guys to STOP BLAMING ALED! He had no part in this WHAT-SO-EVER! LEAVE HIM ALONE. I also want to say that I will accept any punishment you guys see fit; if you don't want me to be part on the ILB staff, I'm okay with that, and will move on. If you guys want me banned from here or Brickfilms.com, I'm okay with that; I'll just move on with my life.

Again, I apologize for this; it won't happen again.
