eyeOS 1.6

Okay, so, I'm a few days late, but, oh well. eyeOS 1.6 was released, and adds some great features. First off, the addition of an XML-RPC server, which will allow you to interact with your eyeOS server from your desktop. Like, I have an application in development called eyeManage. It will use this XML-RPC server to interact with eyeOS, upload files, and edit settings.

Another new feature is the ability to use eyeOS with your mobile phone. I haven't tested this with a phone that has a browser, cause I don't have a cell phone. However, from the screenshots I've seen, it looks like it works very well. I'm not sure how this works in relation to the iPhone. Maybe really well. Maybe not that well... Who konws? I'll test it some, and if it needs better iPhone integration, I'll get that working.

A feature from Mac OS X is the widgets. While not really the same thing, it does have a few resemblances. While I don't personally use it, it can be useful. The different ones include miniActions, which is just a simple widget thing to execute simple actions, miniCalender, which is just a mini calender with the current events, eyeMessages, which shows the latest internal messages you have received, and miniHome, which shows how much of your quota you've used up.

So, those are just a few of the new features. I highly suggest upgrading if you haven't, and installing it if you haven't. It requires PHP 5 to be installed on your server, as well as a few other extensions. Check out eyeOS' site for the full requirements.

eyeCoder

eyeCoder will be a suite of apps that make application development for eyeOS easier. They'll be ALOT like the Development Tools for Mac OS X (mainly XCode and Interface Builder). People have talked about this, and really like it. According to the thread, people want to give me SVN access, and one of the admins, Jose, wants to work on it with me. This application has become quite popular!

Not Much...

Currently, there's not much going on. I'm just a school, taking these stupid MAP tests. I have updated the links to add a link to another blog I post on called iBlog Apple. Yeah, just another Apple related blog, but give it a look. NickMOC, the creator, is featuring some videos of his version of eyeMac, which won't use eyeOS. Of course, when I get a video, I'm going to be posting it.

No TBG

Sorry, guys, no TBG today. Graeme wasn't on for some reason. Who knows, maybe we'll be able to record one on Monday. And, while we weren't able to record one today, we have a BIG one in the editing phase. It's taking a while cause the raw file was almost 2 hours long. It, as a rule of thumb, takes, say, at least twice as long as the episode is to edit that episode. So, for this example, it's 2 hours long, so it could very well take us 4 hours to edit the whole thing. But don't worry. It'll be out soon.

eyeManage

Working on a new Mac App. Calling it eyeManage. It's to be used with eyeOS, and the new XML-RPC functionality. Think the new eyeSync, but with more compatibility, and more features. I'm working on it, and I can't wait for the finished result. I have TONS of ideas floating around in my head for this. It's going to be good.

eyeMac

eyeMac is coming along great! I have a few things to tweak, like the size of the Dock, changing the angle, which I might actually do with the canvas tag instead. I have a few bugs, like getting the new Menubar widget to work, but, all in all, it works good. Just to keep you guys happy ( ;) ), I'm including some screenshots of what I have so far.

Brickfilmers.com

Okay, so Brickfilmers.com is coming along nicely! And it looks beautiful! I'm working on the script to add the film to the database, and it's coming along okay. I've been able to go in a check out $_POST data, and it's all okay. Since I've checked that out, I can start working on the script, and create the MySQL tables to hold the data.

Seminar Script

So, I've been throwing around a few ideas for my Seminar script, but I think I have a good one. I don't want to say too much, but I think it could be a good one, IF it's a good story, and IF I get the right sounding characters. Now, to develop that idea....

A Fresh Start...

Okay, so, I know it's been a while 'n stuff, but I'm back, and giving this blog a fresh start. Not only will I be blogging about my Brickfilming projects, but also stuff like the status of my PHP projects (currently Brickfilmers.com), and other writing projects. Like my upcoming Seminar script. And stuff... Yeah....
